Post on the programme

West Riding GP Training Programme
We have hospital posts on all of the sites of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust - Dewsbury, Wakefield and Pontefract, and general practice trainee posts in the surrounding areas.

Vacancies in 2010
We have 30 vacancies in August 2010. All the rotation have 18 months of general practice and 18 months of hospital posts.

Click here for a full list of our vacancies. These rotations may change between now and the final assessment date so keep coming back to look.

At the final assessment centre you will be asked to rank the rotations that you want to apply for. Nearly 95% of candidates last time got their top third of rotations. If you are successful then the rotation you are offered will be the rotations that you have selected so make sure that you are happy doing all the posts in the rotation because you will not be able to change once it has been offered to you.

If you want more details about any of our posts then click here to email David Brown, TPD.

Hospital Posts

The West Riding GP training programme has hospital posts on all of the sites of the Mid Yorks Hospital NHS Trust - Dewsbury, Wakefield and Pontefract. Dewsbury is the newer of the three hospitals and the most recent to join Pinderfields and Pontefract General Infirmary. Building work has started on a major redevelopment at both Pinderfields and Pontefract - and indeed the Postgraduate Medical Education Centre at Pontefract moved into new premises in January 2007.

General Practice Posts

All of our rotations have 18 months spent in general practice. Our training posts are quite geographically spread but we try and ensure that candidates are allocated to general practice posts in the same area as their hospital posts.

Innovative or modular posts

Innovative or modular posts provide training in specialities but are based in general practice. We aim o offer all our training doctors one innovative or modular post per rotation. Click here for further details
